MUSICA HISTORICA PICTURE #02

Musica Historica includes:(three artists)

  • soprano, altos, tenor
  • harpsichord
  • viola da gamba

     The ensemble was established in 1994 and is formed by the professors of Music Department of the Faculty of Human and Natural Sciences at Presov University and by the member of the operetta orchestra of Jonas Zaborsky Theatre in Presov. Foreign soloists interested in performing ancient music get togehter with ensemble: Gerd Jakubek / Austria, Hans Christian - soloist of the State Opera in Vienna / Austria, Ida Kirilová - soloist of Slovak National Theatre Opera in Bratislava as well as young Slovakian soloists who perform ancient music.

     The repertoire emphasis is on the works from the time of music baroque, as well as reneissance and early classicism composed on the principle of basso continuo. The ensemble performs particular works according to the cognitions of authentic historical performing praxis.

     As well as performing the evening concerts, ensemble also performs occassional performances on different social opportunities and youth concerts. Musica Historica performs in historical costumes not only the ancient music but also contemporary music and in 1996 performed first-night during "Slovak Music Year" of the composition by Juraj Hatrik - Light for Altos, Harpischord and Viola da Gamba and in 1999 composition by Denes Legany / Hungary - Andante for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord.

     The ensemble has performed abroad: Poland, Hungary, Germany and Czech republic.
